Born 5-23-25. Some years we do a fun theme for names. This year we have chosen movie themes for our different stallions. Top Gun Whiskey foals will be named after the Top Gun Call Signs from the original 1986 movie.  Next year we will do similar call signs from the 2022 movie. Our other stallions will have Lord Of The Rings and Hobbit themed names. This colt is named Gandalf. Gandalf is a wizard who is a major character in both The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings film series. He became a friend of the dwarves, elves and hobbits. He starts out as Gandalf the Gray and becomes Gandalf the White.  This colt is not gray but his smoky color aligns with the earlier visual of Gandalf.

‘Gandalf’ is a smoky grulla stallion with no facial white and we believe no white on his feet. We color tested him and he does carry coppy of cream gene. His dam, Goldun It Ok Blue was purchased from Fleetwood Farms Quarter Horses. Goldun It Ok Blue aka Jazzy is out of a Jaz Poco Goldun Blue daughter. Jazzy’s dam would be a half sister to our stallion Goldun Topsail. Jaz Poco Goldun Blue who was the most photographed or well-known grulla horse. He is 95% foundation and 27% Poco Bueno. With all the titles to his name, and to his progeny, there is no doubt that this is a horse who truly has it all - conformation, disposition, trainability, talent - all wrapped up in that great grulla color!“ as stated by previous owner Ryan Smith of Fleetwood Farms about Jaz Poco Goldun Blue. He was sold to Blue Valley Quarter Horses in NE and is now deceased. Blue was a NRHA money earner and earner of AQHA Open Performance Register Of Merritt. He had 22 pts in Junior & Senior Reining. He also competed in a few AQHA Working Cow Horse shows. His progeny has reported earnings of $10,724 as of 11/1/2024 in barrels, reining and reined cow horse. He also produced foals who have earned AQHA pts in a multitude of events from reining, cutting, VRH ranch riding, barrels, heading heeling and tie down roping, barrel racing, hunt seat equitation, hunter under saddle, pole bending, halter. This is a great testament to how versatile his offspring are. Jazzy is by Dun It Ok who is now deceased but was a gorgeous, show-stopping stallion with striking color and plenty of dun factor!  A grandson of Hollywood Dun It & of Peprica (Peponita), Dun It Ok was an honest, quiet horse with an impeccable disposition, which made him a pleasure to handle according to late owners.  He was put into reining training as a 7 year old, and showed that remarkable Hollywood Dun It talent!  His list of his accomplishments were as follows. 47 ABRA points, ABRA ROM Dun Factor, 6 ABRA Halter points, AQHA Open Reining Point Earner, NRHA money earner and RHANW Year End High Point & money earner. We are excited to have Jazzy and can’t wait to see what she produces for us as a broodmare. 2025 will be her first foal.

Gandalf’s sire is our newest and youngest stallion My Bluestem Drift JW. He is 91% NFQHA and eligible to register.  He does carry a copy of the cream gene which he will pass on 50% of the time. He is the result of a very good experiment we tried, breeding his dam to his sire, Walter O Rielly aka Radar. Radar was a foundation stallion we had purchased several years ago to get some fillies to retain back for our program. Within the first few years, we discovered we really liked his foals for ourselves as saddle horses. He became a great addition to our program, and had 12 foal crops for us. He brought older foundation lines to cross back with our Paddy's get. Radar threw BIG foals that could cover a lot ground with amazing laid back dispositions. Most of his offspring have gone on to be ranch horses, with a few rope and barrel prospects too. We then decided to breed one of our favorite ranch mares we used, My Kittys Belle JW, and cross with Radar in hopes of getting some foals we just knew we would want to keep and ride. My Kittys Belle JW’s mother, My Little Kitty, was owned by Barbra Kennedy Johnson and was given to Ella. Belle’s sire was our late 96% NFQHA stallion, JK Jay Reed, who was a consistent producer and natural lead changer. We really liked Bluestem and always thought of him as a stallion prospect and replacement for his sire. We didn’t need him yet, so he was sent to training as a 2 year old, started under saddle, became quite well broke, did some ranching and was well into his roping training by spring of 2024 when his sire passed at the age of 24. It was time to bring him home to fulfill his place in our program. Bluestem is deeply rooted with JK Jay Reed, Walter O Rielly, My Kittys Belle and My Little Kitty. 2025 is Bluestem’s very first foal crop. As we do all our horses, we evaluate after a few foal crops. So far with the first 3 stud colts on the ground, we are absolutely thrilled with him and Aunt Barb would be so tickled to see him and see what we are doing with our program if she could still be here.

Gandalf is the first foal for his dam and from first crop of his sire’s. It is always fun to watch how the experiment worked. Gandalf is a deeply foundation bred horse with his bottom side being heavily reining influenced. We are hoping this foal has the moves and ability to shine in or out of the arena. His color is just a bonus to his well-made conformation.

2025 PRICING INCLUDES: Halter/lead rope, negative coggins, health, brand inspection, initial and booster vaccinations of EWT-Flu-Rhino, 1 bag of his current feed, AQHA transfer fee paid and halter training. This is a $300+ value included in the price. Repeat and multiple horse buyers will be less.  If you are not already an AQHA member, you may get your own membership, or we will assess you an additional $65 one-year membership fee to do the $40 transfer for your new purchase.
