Born April 22, 2020. We first saw a little bay stud colt posted by his breeder, Mindy and Chad Hubert of South Dakota. We were already well into many years of already collecting/hoarding Paddys Irish Whiskey sons and daughters and had several failed attempts at breeding to PIW himself in previous years. It can be imagined just how excited we were to see this little guy posted by the Huberts. We immediately reached out, only to find that he had already been purchased by someone we knew quite well but we got to be first on the list with the Huberts for the 2021 full sibling. We reached out to the buyer and suggested some sort of trade or buy out and were declined. At that time, we learned that the buyer had named and registered him as “Hundred Proof”. We really wish we could take credit for his name as it is awesome! As the summer and fall of 2020 progressed, we watched Hundred Proof mature through pictures and were very envious but had our fingers crossed that the 2021 foal would be another stallion. The end of January 2021 we got a call from our friend that owned him saying he felt the colt needed to ‘go places and do things’ and ‘that he should be kept a stallion and not gelded’ and ‘that he was not in the position to do those things for the horse’ and he was offered to us. We bought him immediately and two weeks later he was home with us.
Hundred Proof is marked with a star, a thin strip along the bridge of his nose which has disappeared as he matured, a left hind pastern, and a right hind sock. Once home he was allowed time to grow and develop on the ranch before sending him to Schlegel Cowhorses in 2022 to begin his training. Initially started in the working cow horse, Hundred Proof has since found his stride in the roping pen, competing primarily in heading and breakaway. He continues to prove himself to be an exciting and versatile athlete. We honored the intention of his first buyer that he should ‘Go Places & Do Things”!!
As a five-year-old, Hundred Proof earned two Top 10 futurity finishes in breakaway roping and has gone on to earn money in both heading and breakaway at numerous ropings. His talent, trainability, and consistency continue to set him apart. Hundred Proof the youngest of four breeding sons we own by the great Paddys Irish Whiskey. With Paddys Irish Whiskey advancing in age and his fertility now limited, the successful cross that produced Hundred Proof was especially meaningful to us—making him a valuable and exciting part of our program moving forward. We are also very happy to have a fifth son of PIW, born in 2025, but he will be a gelding that we ranch on.
According the 6666’s website, Paddys Irish Whiskey is a NCHA Money Earner and Multiple Major Aged Event Finalist. His foals have earned over $1.8 million in a variety of events including cutting, reined cow horse, reining, roping, ranch events, barrel, halter and other. He has produced over 36 AQHA World/Res. World Championships including 2-time AQHA World Champion Versatility Ranch Horse SMART WHISKEY DOC. As a broodmare sire, his daughters have produced earners of more than $2,900,000. He is the Q-Data Top 20 All-Time Leading Ranch Riding Sire.
Hundred Proof’s dam, Sixes Tru Lady, is the daughter of Sixes Pick who is a Top 10 All-Time Leading Sire of Ranch Horse Money-Earners. He is an AQHA World Champion Versatility Ranch Horse in (Trail and Conformation Champion, Ranch and Cutting Reserve Champion). He is an AQHA Superior Versatility Ranch Horse, AQHA Reserve High Point Senior Versatility Ranch Horse Champion and an earner of 98.5 AQHA Points in 4 Events: cutting, working cow horse, halter and versatility ranch.
We continued to be first on the list for and acquired each of the full siblings born in 2021, 2022 and 2023. Hundred Proof is the first of four and the only stallion. The other three were fillies. The first one is a broodmare in our program, Sixes Tru; the second is deceased after an injury and the youngest is also in training with Schlegel Cowhorses and following in her brother’s footsteps (hoof prints) and looking like she will be a competitive roper as well.
Hundred Proof is a striking, athletic stallion with excellent presence. We brought him home for the 2026 breeding season to cover a select group of mares. Pending his continued soundness, he will then return to his rope horse career in Texas and then continue breeding each spring in ND and showing the rest of the year indefinitely. We anticipate his first foal crop arriving in 2027.
