Top Gun Whiskey is one of four
Paddys Irish Whiskey sons that we own.
We decided to give Top Gun a shot at the show ring
before breeding him. It has been an interesting ride
as he continued to show during 2018 as well as breed
some of our mares for 2019 foals. He will continue
to show in reined cowhorse and versatility ranch in
2019.
Top Gun has earned
47 AQHA
performance points in reining, working cow horse, heading, vrh cutting, vrh confirmation, vrh reining and heeling.
He also has his AQHA
Open Performance
ROM. Some of his accomplishments have allowed him to
be a money earner of
$3,919 so far
and are as follows including NRCHA earnings of
$3,476.

By now we are very well-versed in
knowledge of Paddys Irish Whiskey who stands at the
6666 Ranch in Texas. Paddys Irish Whiskey is a full brother to Grays Starlight
and Gallo Del Cielo all out of Docs Starlight and by Peppy San Badger. Wow! What can we say about Peppy San Badger “Little Peppy”
revolutionizing the cutting horse industry that hasn’t already been said? Paddys Irish Whiskey is a NCHA Money Earner and Multiple
Major Aged Event Finalist. Foals have earned $1,702,161 & 5,424 AQHA points, 36 AQHA World/Reserve World Championships including
2-time AQHA World Champion Versatility Ranch Horse Smart Whiskey Doc. As a broodmare sire, foals have produced earners of more than
$2,900,000. The Q-Data All-Time Leading Ranch Riding Sire. He is listed on a Leading Sire list each year since he was purchased by
Paddys Irish Whiskey Syndicate.
As per the 6666’s website, Paddys Irish Whiskey has a proven record of siring both class and
high-end trainability with champions in versatility ranch horse, reined cow horse, cutting, reining,
calf roping, and team roping. His daughters have produced more than $2,900,000 including an
NRHA Open Futurity Champion and multiple AQHA and NRCHA World Champions.
We
acquired Top Gun from
Wylie Gustafson with
Cross Three Quarter Horses at Conrad, Montana.
Wylie is one of the syndicate owners of Paddys Irish
Whiskey. We cannot say enough good things about
Wylie, his horse program and contribution to good
cutting and ranch horses. We continue to have an
on-going relationship with Wylie and have acquired
other Paddys Irish Whiskey offspring from his
program.
Since Paddys Irish Whiskey
was bred and stood at the
John Scott ranch in Montana, there are several of his
sons in the Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota areas
out of Doc O Dynamite daughters. So we are excited to
add a twist into the pedigree with Top Gun’s dam Cowgun
an own daughter of Playgun. Cowgun herself was never
shown, but her sire Playgun was an asset to the cutting
horse industry before he passed in December of 2015
due to complications of old age.
Playgun's success in
the show pen spanned six years with 21 aged event
champion and reserve championships and more than
$186,000 in earnings. He was the National Cutting Horse
Association high money earning 4-year-old cutting horse
in 1996. The same year he entered the breeding barn
and stood to a full book of mares. Playgun’s offspring
continue to impact many disciplines with earnings of
more than $8 million. His prominence as a broodmare sire
has become very impressive.
Here at Woroniecki Ranch Quarter Horses we feel that
we can offer Paddys Irish Whiskey fans a variety of
options with three different bottom sides to our
Paddys sons. Top Gun Whiskey as a grandson of
Playgun; TRR Paddys Texas Gin as a grandson of
Tanquery Gin; and Whoop Up Whiskey and Hiline
Whiskey (now deceased
but we have two of his
daughters) as full brothers great-grandsons of Doc O
Dynamite and Sugar Bars just once off their
papers. We already experience different buyers
comparing Tex and Whoop and deciding which they
like so we are excited to give our buyers the chance
to choose Top Gun as well. Whoop always puts a
little more leg on the foals than Tex does. Top
Gun’s first foal from a mare that has had foals by
BOTH the other two stallions is a very solid colt
without the height of Whoop or the extreme muscling
of Tex. He is a very nice solid colt.
Top Gun was started under saddle and shown through his three-year-old year by Matt Schlegel with
Schlegel
Horse Training in North Dakota.
He then moved on to Monty Bruce with Monty Bruce Training Stable at
Northwood, Iowa and Monty continued to work in collaboration with Matt. Under Monty’s hands Top Gun
World Show qualified in 2016 in Reining. In 2017 as a five year old, Top Gun was ridden by Monty in the
cowhorse and reining events and by Brandon Weiland with Weiland Performance Horses of Iowa in heading
and heeling. Brandon got him World Show qualified in Level 2 Heading and they place 6th overall. He also
World Show qualified in Level 2 and 3 Working Cowhorse.
Top Gun is currently back in North Dakota with
Matt Schlegel and showed in 2018 in Reined Cowhorse Bridle Classes where his highlight was being the North
Central Reined Cowhorse Association champion in Limited Open Bridle and earning his way to the 2019
Celebration of Champions in Fort Worth in February 2019. He will continue to show in 2019 in cowhorse as
well as Ranch Versatility. His first four foals will be on the ground in 2019. He does not stand to the public.
