2020 Palomino Mare
Return to Previous Page

 Headed to South Dakota!
Thanks Aletta!

Born 5-1-20 “Abilene” is a palomino filly that does have a chance to be roan as well. We will pull hairs to determine if she is or not. She has an irregular star and a snip and minimal to no white on her legs. We have chosen two themes this year to name our foals, one is using names of Texas cities or towns and the other to continue with western names for only our Whoop foals.

Abilene’s dam is Bueno Macy Reed JW, a 2010 mare we raised. ‘Macy’ is a mare with a super nice cowhorse pedigree.  Her sire is JK Jay Reed, a 96% foundation bred stallion with Poco Pine, Continental King, Joe Reed II and Whiskey Bert all on his papers.  Her dam, Blondy Bueno, is cutting bred with Doc Bar, Bueno Chex, Peppy San and Tianna Leo x Leo on her papers. She is one of our top producing mares. Since her dam is a palomino, Macy is carrying the cream gene making her a smoky black which she can pass on 50% of the time. Abilene’s half siblings are 2014 Paddys Gin Timber JW who is a dark buckskin and is really turning out nicely; 2016 Paddys Gin Falcon JW who is another dark buckskin and is now in Missouri and 2017 sorrel filly Paddys Gin Cardio JW who is in Nebraska. Her 2019 foal was a sorrel by Jacks Our Bartender and would be a full brother to this filly, Mushu Bartender JW. He is with repeat buyers in Alabama and Georgia.

Her sire is Jacks Our Bartender a son of Bartenders Memory by Two ID Bartender and out of a granddaughter of Two Eyed Jack, Watch Miss Jo Jackie, born in 2003. Unfortunately, due to a stifle injury from being kicked by a mare, Jack was not able to stay sound enough to enter the show ring but was able to prove his athletic ability.  Since then several of his colts have ended up in the roping arena and continue to prove their athleticism and great minds.  By 2015 Hockenson’s realized that he was producing some really great roping horses and decided to see if they could keep his stifle sound enough to show and sure enough in a very short time, he quickly earned 5.5 AQHA Heading Points of his own proving that his offspring accomplishments were not by chance. He is a great horse to be around and out produces himself every time. Jack has 3 AQHA performing offspring. Many of his other foals have gone on to be great rodeo horses or rope horses competing and earning money in different associations.

Abilene should have the athletic ability and size to be able to perform competitively in the roping industry, but not limited to other disciplines.
