2026 Bay Stallion
Return to Previous Page

Born 5-19-26 Some years we do a fun theme for names. This year for Top Gun Whiskey we are continuing with Top Gun Call Signs from the original 1986 movie and the 2022 movie. Our other stallions will have the names of Rock Bands from the 70s, 80s and 90s. This colt is named ZZ Top. ZZ Top is an iconic American rock band formed in 1969 in Houston TX, known for their blues-infused sound, distinctive beards, and hit songs like “Sharp Dressed Man” and “Gimme All Your Lovin”.

‘ZZ Top’ is a bay colt with very few white forehead hairs and we aren’t sure yet on his feet. His dam is HQ Jacks Rojavaquera.  We were specifically shopping for young replacement fillies with the Two Eyed Jack/Pitzer bloodlines to pair up with any of our Paddys Irish Whiskey sons as some of our older mares with those lines have already niched very well with our Paddys stallions.  We absolutely love her sire, Jacks Our Bartender, and his pedigree with Two Eyed Jack and Two ID Bartender. We purchased Vaquera first and then went back to Hockenson’s to purchase Jack. We hope to retain additional Jack daughters. The Jackie Bee on Vaquera’s bottomside is a new line to our program and we are excited to see how that plays out along with the Skipper W and Sonny Dee Bar. Her 2019 foal, Whiskey Up Shang JW, stuck around until his coming 2 year old spring, so we were able to watch him mature. He was nice and ended up going to TX. Her 2021 foal, Whiskey Up Chives JW, went with a repeat buyer in NV. Her 2022 foal, Whiskey Up Squid JW, is a nice bay filly that went to a repeat buyer in Montana. Her 2023 foal, Whiskey Up Zinc JW, is sold. Her 2024 bay filly, Whiskey Up Europa JW, is now in ID. 2025 bay filly, Whiskey Up Kili JW, stayed in ND.

His sire is Whoop Up Whiskey . ‘Whoop’ is a 2010 son of Paddys Irish Whiskey and out of a great John Scott mare, My Little Sugar Babe. This is his 13th foal crop. The Paddys Irish Whiskey horses are making a name for themselves in everything from cutting to cowhorse events to roping horses and are very versatile.  A key difference between Whoop Up Whiskey and our other PIW sons is the dam pedigree. Whoop’s dam goes to Doc O Dynamite who also stood at the John Scott Ranch. Doc O Dynamite was an Equi-State leading cutting sire from 1999-2005 who produced money earners and according to his performance record, his daughters have produced many money earning foals in AQHA, NCHA, NRHA and NRCHA. Doc O Dynamite has a pedigree that traces back to Three Bars giving a bit more stretch and speed to his offspring and shows up on the pedigree of many arena and speed event horses. Whoop Up Whiskey aka Whoop brings that little more height and length and speed to our program as. He has excellent bone, athleticism and conformation. His lineage tells us that his offspring will have cow and will be capable of performing at any level. Whoop’s foals are breaking out really kind and level headed.

ZZ Top should be a nice all around prospect with a lot of style. He will be able to excel in the arena or on the ranch as well. We are seeing a lot of that style and grace in these Whoop babies.  Fun fact is that Vaquera is a Jack daughter who produced a Whoop kiddo.  We have another mare who is a Whoop daughter that produced a Jack son.  It is very rewarding to see our program develop this way. This colt is by Whoop and could have a 50/50 chance of being a GBED carrier.  The Vaquera and Whoop foals have quickly become a very popular cross. They are solid, kind, steady ranch horses. This is a very PROVEN cross.

Will be priced at one month of age (US)

Foal is eligible for the Iowa Quarter Horse Association Ranch Horse Futurity.
