Born 5-18-26.  Some years we do a fun theme for names. This year for Top Gun Whiskey we are continuing with Top Gun Call Signs from the original 1986 movie and the 2022 movie. Our other stallions will have the names of Rock Bands from the 70s, 80s and 90s. This filly is named Creedence after Creedence Clearwater Revival, also known as CCR. CCR was a legendary American rock band known for its roots rock, swamp rock, and socially conscious songs.  The band was originally formed in 1959 but became very active primarily from 1967 to 1972. They were the first major act to be signed to appear at the 1969 Woodstock festival. Many of their songs have been used in movies depicting the Vietnam Conflict. Some of their well-known songs are “Green River”, “Have You Ever Seen The Rain”, “Up Around the Bend”, “Fortunate Son”, “Lookin’ Out My Back Door” and “Bad Moon Rising”.

‘Creedence’ is a palomino/dunalino filly with no white on her. We will be color testing her to see if she carries dun gene. Her dam, Sagebrush Drift JW, who we raised, is 93% NFQHA eligible. Sagebrush is deeply rooted in our program. Her dam, Angel Lace Reed JW is a foal we also raised and is a very special mare for us as she is named after her wonderful grandmother, BP Princess Lace, who is now deceased after raising her very last foal for us in 2014. Angel is just a fantastic JK Jay Reed daughter out of a Peponita granddaughter. Angel is 94% NFQHA. Her sire was our very own JK Jay Reed aka Pine Cone, a 96% foundation bred stallion. JK Jay Reed was the original stallion that we started with way back in 2007. His pedigree spoke for itself and was as foundation bred as they come. Poco Pine, Continental King, Whiskey Bert, Joe Reed II were all on his papers. It is important to note that King P-234 was very close up in his pedigree and he traced to King a total of 6 times! Sagebrush’s sire was Walter O Rielly aka Radar.  Radar made some really nice big horses over the many years we owned him. We have kept several of his daughters back to cross with some of our more moderate sized stallions. Sagebrush’s first foal, Saurman Topsail JW was a dunskin stallion that sold to repeat buyers.

Creedence’s sire is Goldun Topsail aka “Topper” who is a 90% NFQHA (F0039287) dun stallion. This is his 6th foal crop. We acquired Topper as part of a package deal with his dam, Whizzin Lena. As a grandson of Topsail Whiz and a son of Jaz Poco Goldun Blue we could not be happier. His dam, Whizzin Lena aka Whiz is an older mare we purchased from her owner as she was a leased mare for Ryan Fleetwood at Fleetwood Farms. Bred at Bob Loomis Quarter Horses in Oklahoma, Whiz is a very well-bred reining mare.  Sired by Topsail Whiz, the 1st and only NRHA 12 million dollar sire, and out of a mare by Justa Doc Olena by Doc O Lena, this mare was third in the South Country Derby Non-Pro division in 2001 and won the Non-Pro Reining Futurity at the Canadian Supreme in Red Deer, Alberta. Whiz’s earnings include NRHA $3,754. She also has four performing foals. Her sire Topsail Whiz is in the Hall of Fame, a NRHA money earner, NRHA #1 all time leading sire, AQHA World Show Qualifier, AQHA Leading Sire and  ROM Performance. Topper’s sire is Jaz Poco Goldun Blue who is the most photographed or well-known grulla horse. He is 95% foundation and 27% Poco Bueno. With all the titles to his name, and to his progeny, there is no doubt that this is a horse who truly has it all - conformation, disposition, trainability, talent - all wrapped up in that great grulla color!“ as stated by previous owner Ryan Smith of Fleetwood Farms about Jaz Poco Goldun Blue. He was sold to Blue Valley Quarter Horses in NE and is now deceased. Blue was a NRHA money earner and earner of AQHA Open Performance Register Of Merritt. He had 22 pts in Junior & Senior Reining. He also competed in a few AQHA Working Cow Horse shows. His progeny has reported earnings of $10,724 as of 11/1/2024 in barrels, reining and reined cow horse. He also produced foals who have earned AQHA pts in a multitude of events from reining, cutting, VRH ranch riding, barrels, heading heeling and tie down roping, barrel racing, hunt seat equitation, hunter under saddle, pole bending, halter. This is a great testament to how versatile his offspring are. Topper started very well under saddle as a two year old. We were looking to add a higher foundation stallion to our herd since our other stallions were getting up in age. We are excited about Topper’s strong reining pedigree as well. He is bred to be a reining horse. His dam and sire are very proven in the reining world and he has several half siblings on both sides that are money earners in reining, reined cowhorse, cutting or barrels that are reported. We decided to not show Topper, but let him ride the "coat tails" of his dam, sire and siblings' achievements. His offspring are really showing their reining pedigree with their sweet little lopes and really nice stops. This is showing up in babies out of a variety of mares.

Creedence is 92% NFQHA eligible. If you are drawn to old foundation breeding, this foal has got it! Topper’s foals are quite the lookers and so far, are showing signs of being very trainable and agreeable. Creedence should make a nice project for anyone. She is for sale but we are considering retaining her for ourselves dependent upon her color and genetic testing info.  We will gladly put you on her list.

This is a $300+ value included in the price. Repeat and multiple horse buyers will be less.  If you are not already an AQHA member, you may get your own membership, or we will assess you an additional $65 one-year membership fee to do the $40 transfer for your new purchase.
