Born 5-16-26 Some years we do a fun theme for names. This year for Top Gun Whiskey we are continuing with Top Gun Call Signs from the original 1986 movie and the 2022 movie. Our other stallions will have the names of Rock Bands from the 70s, 80s and 90s. This filly is named Queen after the British rock band formed in London in 1970. Some of their most well known songs are “ Another One Bites The Dust” “Under Pressure” “Crazy Little Thing Called Love”.

‘Queen’ is a bay filly with a left rear white pastern higher in the back. Her dam, Del Rio Bartender JW, is a mare we raised from another home-raised mare, Peponita Stareyed JW, also known as Bubbles. Bubbles was one of our main saddle horses for many years, and while she was still able, we chose to raise foals from her. She produced seven foals, including Del Rio. Bubbles is now retired from breeding, and our grandkids ride and use her on the ranch. She has truly been one of the foundation horses in our program. Her dam, Charjody, was a beautiful 84% NFQHA mare, double-bred Two Eyed Jack, with him still showing on her papers. Charjody was one of the original mares we started with and produced many quality foals. We also value Del Rio’s sire, Jacks Our Bartender, for his pedigree, which includes Two Eyed Jack and Two ID Bartender. We kept Del Rio’s first foal, Top Gun Miranda JW. Her 2025 foal we unfortunately lost in a cold wet May snow event. 

Her sire, Whoop Up Whiskey aka ‘Whoop’ is a 2010 son of Paddys Irish Whiskey and out of a great John Scott mare, My Little Sugar Babe. This is his 13th foal crop. The Paddys Irish Whiskey horses are making a name for themselves in everything from cutting to cowhorse events to roping horses and are very versatile.  A key difference between Whoop Up Whiskey and opur other PIW sons is the dam pedigree. Whoop’s dam goes to Doc O Dynamite who also stood at the John Scott Ranch. Doc O Dynamite was an Equi-State leading cutting sire from 1999-2005 who produced money earners and according to his performance record, his daughters have produced many money earning foals in AQHA, NCHA, NRHA and NRCHA. Doc O Dynamite has a pedigree that traces back to Three Bars giving a bit more stretch and speed to his offspring and shows up on the pedigree of many arena and speed event horses. Whoop Up Whiskey aka Whoop brings that little more height and length and speed to our program as. He has excellent bone, athleticism and conformation. His lineage tells us that his offspring will have cow and will be capable of performing at any level. Whoop’s foals are breaking out really kind and level headed.

Queen should be a nice all-around prospect with a lot of style. She will be able to excel in the arena or on the ranch as well. We are seeing a lot of that style and grace in these Whoop babies.
