Once again we find ourselves WITHOUT any interns heading into this fall to assist with halter breaking our 2025 foals. We started last March with hiring 5 interns for May-Aug and May-Dec and for various reasons they are no longer here. Our daughter is expecting baby #3 in November and will only be able to assist for a little longer and will stay on maternity leave until spring 2026. We have too many great stud colts and fillies that express roan, cream, dun and gray to let them stand around all fall and winter. Without assistance to halter break we will be discounting their prices (15 colts and 5 fillies) to get them moved on to new homes. We are super proud of our 2025 foals and very proud of many of our stallions. This pricing will have them vaccinated, boostered, dewormed, handled 2 times (maybe more), weaned and eating well for 2 weeks before travel. Our standard 10% discount for multiple or repeat buyers will still stand. We reserve the right to leave some 2025 foals at their original prices. Those not listed below are being retained by us as of now. We will talk personally, with those of you who have already placed a down payment on your foals and come to an agreement with each of you to make this fair to you our loyal customers. Jacks Our Bartender has been declining and we will soon be preg checking his mares that pastured with him this summer. Could be that these 2025s are his last offspring. His bloodline will remain in our program through his daughters and a 2024 stallion prospect we have retained. We have color testing results on most of these foals.
Born 5-24-25. Some years we do a fun theme for names. This year we have chosen movie themes for our different stallions. Top Gun Whiskey foals will be named after the Top Gun Call Signs from the original 1986 movie. Next year we will do similar call signs from the 2022 movie. Our other stallions will have Lord Of The Rings and Hobbit themed names. This colt is named Legolas. Legolas is a fictional character in The Lord of the Rings. He is a Sindar Elf of the Woodland Realm and one of the nine members of the Fellowship who set out to destroy the One Ring. Legolas is the Prince of Mirkwood, the son of Thranduil, the King of the Silvan Elves living in that realm.
Legolas is a dunalino stallion. His color test showed he has no roan gene, just cream and dun. He is flashy with a big white blaze, white front left stocking and a right hind stocking . Legola’s dam Ting Bartender JW is out of Paddys Gin Dakota JW. Dakota was one of our very first TRR Paddy Texas Gin fillies out of Mujer Lady Dial JW. We love when Tex’s kiddos make their way into our breeding program. Ting would be his granddaughter. We have seen through time when Paddys Irish Whiskey is on the maternal side, those mares make some good mamas so we are excited to have added another one in our program. Ting’s sire, Jacks Our Bartender, is a son of Bartenders Memory by Two ID Bartender and out of a granddaughter of Two Eyed Jack, Watch Miss Jo Jackie. Ting is a buckskin roan. This means she can pass along the roan gene 50% of the time (along with the cream gene). Her first foal 2023 Platinum Topsail JW is now deceased. She had a very nice red roan 2024 colt, Asteroid Topsail JW, went to ranching family in Idaho and we have heard they are keeping him as a potential stallion prospect.
Legolas’s sire is Goldun Topsail aka “Topper” who is a 90% NFQHA (F0039287) dun stallion. This is his 5th foal crop. We acquired Topper as part of a package deal with his dam, Whizzin Lena. As a grandson of Topsail Whiz and a son of Jaz Poco Goldun Blue we could not be happier. His dam, Whizzin Lena aka Whiz is an older mare we purchased from Ryan Fleetwod at Fleetwood Farms. Bred at Bob Loomis Quarter Horses in Oklahoma, Whiz is a very well-bred reining mare. Sired by Topsail Whiz, the 1st and only NRHA 12 million dollar sire, and out of a mare by Justa Doc Olena by Doc O Lena, this mare was third in the South Country Derby Non-Pro division in 2001 and won the Non-Pro Reining Futurity at the Canadian Supreme in Red Deer, Alberta. Whiz’s earnings include NRHA $3,754. She also has four performing foals. Her sire Topsail Whiz is in the Hall of Fame, a NRHA money earner, NRHA #1 all time leading sire, AQHA World Show Qualifier, AQHA Leading Sire and ROM Performance. Topper’s sire is Jaz Poco Goldun Blue who is the most photographed or well-known grulla horse. He is 95% foundation and 27% Poco Bueno. With all the titles to his name, and to his progeny, there is no doubt that this is a horse who truly has it all - conformation, disposition, trainability, talent - all wrapped up in that great grulla color!“ as stated by previous owner Ryan Smith of Fleetwood Farms about Jaz Poco Goldun Blue. He was sold to Blue Valley Quarter Horses in NE and is now deceased. Blue was a NRHA money earner and earner of AQHA Open Performance Register Of Merritt. He had 22 pts in Junior & Senior Reining. He also competed in a few AQHA Working Cow Horse shows. His progeny has reported earnings of $10,724 as of 11/1/2024 in barrels, reining and reined cow horse. He also produced foals who have earned AQHA pts in a multitude of events from reining, cutting, VRH ranch riding, barrels, heading heeling and tie down roping, barrel racing, hunt seat equitation, hunter under saddle, pole bending, halter. This is a great testament to how versatile his offspring are.Topper started very well under saddle as a two year old. We were looking to add a higher foundation stallion to our herd since our other stallions were getting up in age. We are excited about Topper’s strong reining pedigree as well. He is bred to be a reining horse. His dam and sire are very proven in the reining world and he has several half siblings on both sides that are money earners in reining, reined cowhorse, cutting or barrels that are reported. We decided to not show Topper, but let him ride the "coat tails" of his dam, sire and siblings' achievements.
Legolas should have athletic ability to shine on the ranch or arena. If you are drawn to “FLASH”, Legolas will be a stand out horse with eye appeal and potentially a stallion prospect in his own right given the merits and disposition of his 2024 full brother and his sire’s other foals. Legolas carries a higher dose of them at 84.5%, which is just .5% off from being able to register with NFQHA. Legolas has the sweetest lope ever and shows that his dad’s reining pedigree is in full force. Topper’s foals are quite the lookers and so far, are showing signs of being very trainable and agreeable.
