Once again we find ourselves WITHOUT any interns heading into this fall to assist with halter breaking our 2025 foals. We started last March with hiring 5 interns for May-Aug and May-Dec and for various reasons they are no longer here. Our daughter is expecting baby #3 in November and will only be able to assist for a little longer and will stay on maternity leave until spring 2026. We have too many great stud colts and fillies that express roan, cream, dun and gray to let them stand around all fall and winter. Without assistance to halter break we will be discounting their prices (15 colts and 5 fillies) to get them moved on to new homes. We are super proud of our 2025 foals and very proud of many of our stallions. This pricing will have them vaccinated, boostered, dewormed, handled 2 times (maybe more), weaned and eating well for 2 weeks before travel. Our standard 10% discount for multiple or repeat buyers will still stand. We reserve the right to leave some 2025 foals at their original prices. Those not listed below are being retained by us as of now. We will talk personally, with those of you who have already placed a down payment on your foals and come to an agreement with each of you to make this fair to you our loyal customers. Jacks Our Bartender has been declining and we will soon be preg checking his mares that pastured with him this summer. Could be that these 2025s are his last offspring. His bloodline will remain in our program through his daughters and a 2024 stallion prospect we have retained. We have color testing results on most of these foals.
Born 5-17-25. Some years we do a fun theme for names. This year we have chosen movie themes for our different stallions. Top Gun Whiskey foals will be named after the Top Gun Call Signs from the original 1986 movie. Next year we will do similar call signs from the 2022 movie. Our other stallions will have Lord Of The Rings and Hobbit themed names. This colt is named Goose. Goose was Maverick's co-pilot for their F-14 fighter jet. That means he handled communications, navigation, and several other tasks while the pilot focused on flying. Goose died during a training exercise leaving Maverick feeling responsible for his death.
‘Goose’ is a buckskin stallion with a star and some white on his feet. His dam is Ms Boon Topaz. Her dam, Boon Fever, is an actual daughter of Boon San out of a Playboys Buck Fever daughter and we love that Shot O Gin who is a full brother to Tanquery Gin down there on the bottom representing solid 6666’s breeding. Topaz’s sire is Jesses Topaz a 2011 buckskin stallion sired by AQHA Racing Champion Mr Jess Perry SI 113 owned by the 6666s. Topaz was the 2nd pairing from this cross. We also kept back her younger full sister. We are excited to have these pair of sisters in our program. Both were kept with the intention of becoming broodmares for us. So far Topaz is off to a good start in this journey. Her first foal 2023, Whiskey Up Jade JW, was a nice bay stallion that ended up in MT. Her 2024 buckskin stallion, Whiskey Up Saturn JW sold to a repeat buyer in Florida who really loves him. Topaz is a little stouter and thicker and her sister, Jessie, is a little stretchier and more racehorse looking.
Top Gun Whiskey is one of four Paddys Irish Whiskey sons that we own. This is his 7th foal crop. We decided to give Top Gun a shot at the show ring before breeding him. In 2016 he qualified for the AQHA World Show in Jr Reining, Jr Reining Level 2 and Jr Cowhorse Level 2; in 2017 he qualified for the AQHA World Show in Jr Cowhorse, Jr Cowhorse Level 2 and Open Heading Level 2 placing 6th. It has been an interesting ride as he continued to show during the 2018 year as well as breed some of our mares for 2019 foals. Top Gun qualified for the 2018 World NRCHA show, was 2018 North Central Regional NRCHA Champion and has earned 47 AQHA performance points in reining, working cow horse, heading, vrh cutting, vrh confirmation, vrh reining and heeling. He also has his AQHA Open Performance ROM. Top Gun was injured during 2019 breeding season that cut his showing career short, but he still qualified for NRCHA Celebration of Champions in LTD Open Bridle. He was North Central Region NRCHA 4th place LTD Open Bridle and North Central Region NRCHA 9th place Open Bridle. Check out his stallion page for the most up to date information as we will change it as it happens.
Goose will have all the right moves and ‘cowiness’ to make an excellent performance, ranch, or rope horse. He will be a dynamo package with a good disposition. We loved Topaz’s Whoop Up Whiskey foals and will appreciate this Top Gun foal just as much. We truly feel these Top Gun babies this year are show quality and have potential to be a reined cowhorse. Picking out the names this season was done intentionally for these foals to have a ‘show’ worthy name. Top Gun’s foals this year are all robust with big shoulders which should physically help them circle a cow. We are hopeful a few of his foals this year land in some show homes.
