Born 5-12-25. Some years we do a fun theme for names. This year we have chosen movie themes for our different stallions. Top Gun Whiskey foals will be named after the Top Gun Call Signs from the original 1986 movie. Next year we will do similar call signs from the 2022 movie. Our other stallions will have Lord Of The Rings and Hobbit themed names. This colt is named Mordor. Mordor is a fictional land in J.R.R. Tolkien's Middle-earth, known as the realm of the evil lord Sauron. It is characterized by its black volcanic terrain and is surrounded by three mountain ranges, making it a natural fortress against invaders. Mordor is often depicted as a place of darkness and evil.
‘Mordor’ is a brown stallion with a star, stripe and some additional white and distal spots on all four feet. His dam, My Kittys Melody JW, is one of our own JK Jay Reed aka Pine Cone daughters. Melody is 91% NFQHA. Her pedigree is solid with good dispositions all around and Melody has had a friendly disposition since birth. Melody has a very feminine face, gorgeous neck, kind eye, good bone, nice hip and as a plus, her mane ALL goes to the right giving her a very clean look. She was started under saddle when she was three and she did very well. She started her ranch work career in 2013 and showed the right amount of ‘cow’ to enter the broodmare bunch. Her 2015 foal Paddys Gin Bay JW stayed with us and had 2 foals before we unfortunately lost her. We also kept Melody’s 2017 foal, My Sandra Drift JW for one of our ranching and broodmare prospects, but we also lost her. Her 2019 filly, My Little Boon San, is another one of hers we have retained and is expecting her third foal. We offered her 2020 colt, Whiskey Up Latigo JW, for sale and he went with a repeat buyer. Her 2021 foal, Top Gun Sycamore JW, went to TX as a roping and broodmare prospect for the 6666’s stallion manager’s personal remuda. Her 2022 foal, Top Gun Riptide JW, was a very nice colt. Her 2023 foal. Top Gun Titanium JW, has sold. 2024 foal, Whiskey Up Nebula JW, is unfortunately deceased.
Mordor’s sire is Whoop Up Whiskey . ‘Whoop’ is a 2010 son of Paddys Irish Whiskey and out of a great John Scott mare, My Little Sugar Babe. This is his 12th foal crop. The Paddys Irish Whiskey horses are making a name for themselves in everything from cutting to cowhorse events to roping horses and are very versatile. A key difference between Whoop Up Whiskey and our other PIW sons is the dam pedigree. Whoop’s dam goes to Doc O Dynamite who also stood at the John Scott Ranch. Doc O Dynamite was an Equi-State leading cutting sire from 1999-2005 who produced money earners and according to his performance record, his daughters have produced many money earning foals in AQHA, NCHA, NRHA and NRCHA. Doc O Dynamite has a pedigree that traces back to Three Bars giving a bit more stretch and speed to his offspring and shows up on the pedigree of many arena and speed event horses. Whoop Up Whiskey aka Whoop brings that little more height and length and speed to our program as. He has excellent bone, athleticism and conformation. His lineage tells us that his offspring will have cow and will be capable of performing at any level. Whoop’s foals are breaking out really kind and level headed.
Mordor should be a nice all-around prospect with a lot of style and plenty of eye appeal. He will be able to excel in the arena or on the ranch as well. We are seeing a lot of that style and grace in these Whoop babies. We ride a lot of Whoop’s offspring here on the ranch for ourselves. He is a son of Whoop and has a 50/50 chance of being a GBED carrier. He will be tested.
