Born 5-5-25. Some years we do a fun theme for names. This year we have chosen movie themes for our different stallions. Top Gun Whiskey foals will be named after the Top Gun Call Signs from the original 1986 movie.  Next year we will do similar call signs from the 2022 movie. Our other stallions will have Lord Of The Rings and Hobbit themed names. This filly is named Charlie after Charolette “Charlie” Blackwood from the 1986 Top Gun movie. She is a civilian contractor and an instructor at the Marine Corps Air Station Miramar who becomes “Maverick’s” love interest.  Charlie is actually based on a real life person, Christine Fox, who worked at the Marine Corps Air Station Miramar.

“Charlie” is a bay filly with two rear white ankles higher in back, white on the inside left front foot and a large star. Her dam, Too Suen Ms is a 2021 mare we purchased from the 6666’s Return To The Remuda as a yearling. She is by Boon Too Suen and here is what the 6666’s has to say about him. “Boon Too Suen is the whole package, offering breeders the perfect outcross for High Brow Cat mares. This stallion has a proven pedigree backed by his performance in the arena and as a sire. Sired by Top 10 All-Time Leading Cutting Sire, Peptoboonsmal, whose foals have earned in excess of $28.6 million and out of 3-Time NCHA Open World Champion Meradas Little Sue, by Freckles Merada, the earner of $734,122 and dam of the earners of more than $1.6 Million! Boon Too Suen has earned $263,009 and is a $5.9 Million Dollar Sire, 212 money-earners averaging $27,830! He was a 2023 QData Top 20 Leading Cutting Sire and a 2023 QData & NCHA Top 20 Leading Sire. He is a NCHA World Champion Stallion along with a number more accolades in cutting. “ Her dam, This History is a daughter of WR This Cats Smart earner of $236,514. WR This Cats Smart is a NCHA & NRCHA leading sire since 2010 and an NCHA & NRCHA All-Time leading sire. His foals have earned over $19,500,000! We are huge fans of WR and his half brother Bet Hesa Cat as we have daughters of both of those sires.  History is just a granddaughter of WR but we are very excited to add her to our broodmare band. This is History’s first foal and she is doing a FANTASTIC job as a first-time mama. We are so excited about this one!

Charlie’s sire Top Gun Whiskey is one of four Paddys Irish Whiskey sons that we own. This is his 7th foal crop. We decided to give Top Gun a shot at the show ring before breeding him. In 2016 he qualified for the AQHA World Show in Jr Reining, Jr Reining Level 2 and Jr Cowhorse Level 2; in 2017 he qualified for the AQHA World Show in Jr Cowhorse, Jr Cowhorse Level 2 and Open Heading Level 2 placing 6th.  It has been an interesting ride as he continued to show during the 2018 year as well as breed some of our mares for 2019 foals. Top Gun qualified for the 2018 World NRCHA show, was 2018 North Central Regional NRCHA Champion and has earned 47 AQHA performance points in reining, working cow horse, heading, vrh cutting, vrh confirmation, vrh reining and heeling. He also has his AQHA Open Performance ROM. Top Gun was injured during 2019 breeding season that cut his showing career short, but he still qualified for NRCHA Celebration of Champions in LTD Open Bridle. He was North Central Region NRCHA 4th place LTD Open Bridle and North Central Region NRCHA 9th place Open Bridle. Charlie will have all the right moves and ‘cowiness’ to make an excellent performance, ranch, or rope horse. She will be a dynamo package with a good disposition. We truly feel these Top Gun babies this year are show quality and have potential to be a reined cowhorse. Picking out the names this season was done intentionally for these foals to have a ‘show’ worthy name. Top Gun’s foals this year are all robust with big shoulders which should physically help them circle a cow. We are hopeful a few of his foals this year land in some show homes.  Her dam, Too Suen MS, is a Herda carrier so Charlie has 50/50 chance and will be tested.
