Once again we find ourselves WITHOUT any interns heading into this fall to assist with halter breaking our 2025 foals. We started last March with hiring 5 interns for May-Aug and May-Dec and for various reasons they are no longer here. Our daughter is expecting baby #3 in November and will only be able to assist for a little longer and will stay on maternity leave until spring 2026. We have too many great stud colts and fillies that express roan, cream, dun and gray to let them stand around all fall and winter. Without assistance to halter break we will be discounting their prices (15 colts and 5 fillies) to get them moved on to new homes. We are super proud of our 2025 foals and very proud of many of our stallions. This pricing will have them vaccinated, boostered, dewormed, handled 2 times (maybe more), weaned and eating well for 2 weeks before travel. Our standard 10% discount for multiple or repeat buyers will still stand. We reserve the right to leave some 2025 foals at their original prices. Those not listed below are being retained by us as of now. We will talk personally, with those of you who have already placed a down payment on your foals and come to an agreement with each of you to make this fair to you our loyal customers. Jacks Our Bartender has been declining and we will soon be preg checking his mares that pastured with him this summer. Could be that these 2025s are his last offspring. His bloodline will remain in our program through his daughters and a 2024 stallion prospect we have retained. We have color testing results on most of these foals.
Born 5-3-25. Some years we do a fun theme for names. This year we have chosen movie themes for our different stallions. Top Gun Whiskey foals will be named after the Top Gun Call Signs from the original 1986 movie. Next year we will do similar call signs from the 2022 movie. Our other stallions will have Lord Of The Rings and Hobbit themed names. This colt is named Sam. Samwise Gamgee (usually called Sam) is a fictional character in J. R. R. Tolkien's Middle-earth. A Hobbit, Sam is the chief supporting character of The Lord of the Rings, serving as the loyal companion of Frodo Baggins. Sam is a member of the Company of the Ring, the group of nine charged with destroying the One Ring to prevent the Dark Lord Sauron from taking over the world.
“Sam” is a bay colt with only a small dot on his forehead. His dam is Lethas Lena aka Lena. She is a sweet well-built stocky bay mare. Her sire is Lethal Playgun owned by GBL Farms. He has a black type pedigree inclusive of multiple maternal money earning siblings (one being Thomas E. Hughes) having earned more than $812,000. Lethal Playgun’s dam, Smart Letha, is Equistat #83 all-time leading dam and has paternal siblings with earnings in excess of over $9 million. Lethal Playgun was awarded his Performance ROM in 2005 and is a NDQHA Derby Money Earner. He is a proven producer of money earners in NCHA, NRHA, and NRCHA as well as AQHA point earners. He has also produced winners in barrel racing, roping, and open show events. He himself doesn’t have any earnings, but he did acquire some points in AQHA reining. The other names on “Lena’s” papers are just stacked with money earners!! Lena’s dam side is just as impressive and brings more of the older foundation bred athletes to her pedigree. What really attracted us to her on the bottom was Peponita. We currently have 3 granddaughters of Peponita and really love what they have done for our program, so to be able to add another was an opportunity we couldn’t pass up! Click on her webpage to read more about what she has to offer. Her first foal 2019 Whiskey Up Zena JW, went to Illinois. Her 2021 foal, Whiskey Up Basil JW, is now deceased. Her 2022 foal by Walter O Rielly, Eel Drift JW, was sold. Her 2023 foal, Sandstone Drift JW, went to a ranching family in ID. Her 2024 bay colt, Paddys Gin Ixion JW, is now in TX.
Sam’s sire is TRR Paddys Texas Gin aka Tex. This is Tex’s 17th foal crop. He puts very thick and muscular foals on the ground with very nice muscle expression on them as well as a lot of athleticism and as they develop, they have a lot of vigor. The oldest ones have been started under saddle by various buyers and we are hearing good things from all of them. The Paddys Irish Whiskey horses are making a name for themselves in everything from cutting to cowhorse events to roping horses and are very versatile—Tanquery Gin, Doc O’Lena, Docs Starlight, Poco Tivio, Peppy San Badger. His daughters, when bred to current barrel stallions are producing 1D and 2D barrel horses with other owners.
Sam should make a jam up cow horse. Whether in the arena roping, cowhorse events or on the ranch. Tex is his sire so he could be 50/50 HERDA Carrier. Sam will be tested. He currently seems very much like his 2024 full brother who really ended up looking like a Tex Mini Me!
