2021 Bay Mare
Return to Previous Page

Born 8-21-2021.  ‘Cactus’ is bay filly with no white on her. This year our names are flower/tree/rangeland plants themed. It stuck when our first foal was born and we started calling her ‘Posie’ which means a ‘bunch of flowers’. So, we decided to go with it.

Her dam, Whizzin Lena aka Whiz is an older mare we purchased from Ryan Fleetwood at Fleetwood Farms because we have always wanted a Topsail Whiz daughter! So when she became available to us, we grabbed her in hopes to retain some daughters out of her to cross back on any of our stallions! Bred at Bob Loomis Quarter Horses in Oklahoma, Whiz is a very well-bred reining mare.  Sired by Topsail Whiz and out of a mare by Justa Doc Olena by Doc O Lena, this mare was third in the South Country Derby Non-Pro division in 2001 and won the Non-Pro Reining Futurity at the Canadian Supreme in Red Deer, Alberta. Whiz’s earnings include NRHA $3,754. She also has four performing foals. Her sire Topsail Whiz is in the Hall of Fame, a NRHA money earner, AQHA World Show Qualifier, AQHA Leading Sire and ROM Performance. His offspring have also earned many accomplishments as well including World Champion Offspring, Reserve World Champion Offspring, NRHA Futurity Champion Offspring, Superior Performance Offspring, ROM Performance Offspring, NRHA Money-earners, NCHA Money-earners, NRCHA Money-earners, Halter Point Earners and NRHA Six Million Dollar Sire. Her 2017 foal was as dun stallion, Goldun Topsail by Jaz Poco Goldun Blue and we have retained him as a stallion for ourselves.  His first foal crop was on the ground in 2021 and we are just excited to watch him and his offspring mature.

This is Whiz’s first foal by TRR Paddys Texas Gin. This is Tex’s 13th foal crop. He puts very thick and muscular foals on the ground with very nice muscle expression on them as well as a lot of athleticism and as they develop, they have a lot of vigor. The oldest ones have been started under saddle by various buyers and we are hearing good things from all of them. The Paddys Irish Whiskey horses are making a name for themselves in everything from cutting to cowhorse events to roping horses and are very versatile—Tanquery Gin, Doc O’Lena, Docs Starlight, Poco Tivio, Peppy San Badger.

This is Whiz’s last foal and a filly to boot that we will be keeping.  We are sure glad to have her!
