Born 4-24-20. ‘Austin’ is a dark brown mare with a left hind partial inside heel and partial roan pastern. We color tested her to be certain there is no cream. She will never be able to produce a red based sorrel/chestnut foal and will have a future with us. We have chosen two themes this year to name our foals, one is using names of Texas cities or towns and the other to continue with western names for only our Whoop foals.
Austin’s mama, Tiff, is one of our top mares and comes through with friendly top babies every year. They all have broken out well and that makes us extra excited about this little guy. Her dam, Mujer Lady Dial JW aka Tiff, is one of our Mujer Tacky Jay daughters. She is 81% NFQHA and was purchased from Grantier Quarter Horses because her mare line is very close to several of our VERY PROVEN ranch horses. Mujer Tacky Jay, now deceased, made a name for himself producing using horses for the family, ranch, arena and youth. We really believe in these horse families. We really like Tiff’s stout build and kind personality. Her foals should be a very friendly and well-put-together with this mare as their mama. Her 2010 buckskin filly, Paddys Gin Dakota JW and 2011 bay colt, Paddys Gin Boba JW have stayed in ND. Both have broken out well and are currently being used on ranches and Dakota is now back with us. Her 2012 palomino filly, Paddys Gin Sage JW is in TX. Her 2013 bay filly, Paddys Gin Boogie JW, headed to North Carolina with a repeat buyer and will not disappoint. Her 2014 foal, Whiskey Up Stitch JW, was the first pairing from this cross and headed to California and has started nicely and her 2015 foal, Whiskey Up Amigo JW, is now in Nevada as a roping prospect. Her 2016 bay colt, Whiskey Up Torino JW, is now in Oklahoma. Her 2017 baby Whiskey Up Shenzi JW is now in NE for their program. 2018 Morocco Bartender JW went to be with a family in TX. Her 2019 colt, Paddys Gin Abu JW, went to a ranch in NM.
Austin’s sire is TRR Paddys Texas Gin. This is Tex’s 12th foal crop. He puts very thick and muscular foals on the ground with very nice muscle expression on them as well as a lot of athleticism and as they develop, they have a lot of vigor. The oldest ones have been started under saddle by various buyers and we are hearing good things from all of them. The Paddys Irish Whiskey horses are making a name for themselves in everything from cutting to cowhorse events to roping horses and are very versatile—Tanquery Gin, Doc O’Lena, Docs Starlight, Poco Tivio, Peppy San Badger.
Austin is her mama’s last baby. All of Tiff’s babies have been great regardless of the stallion she was with but we are super fans of Austin’s full siblings and sisters and she will stay in the broodmare band with us. Austin had a very nice dark bay stallion by Jacks Our Bartender, Deimos Bartender JW, that is for sale.
Paddys Gin Austin JW is currently raising her 2024 foal. She is not bred back for next year and we would really like her to go to a riding home. She was broke as a 2 year old with 45-60 days on her. She would need to go back into training to see what or how much she remembers and continue to finish breaking her. She is easy to catch and has an easy going disposition. Austin is roughly 15 hands and a thick built horse. She is a product of our program having raised her out of one of our best mares. She has many full siblings ahead of her that have made nice ranch and all around using horses. She will be ready to leave mid-late October.
