Born 5-27-19 ‘Iago’ is a sorrel/red roan colt with a star, matching rear half stockings and matching front pasterns higher in the back.  He is very flashy!  We have chosen two movie themes this year to name our foals.  One movie is Mulan and in coordination with the remake of Aladdin coming to theaters soon, the other is Aladdin characters. We named this one after the loud-mouthed and sarcastic parrot that served as Jafar's henchman, but in Return to Jafar, he reformed and joined Aladdin and Jasmine as the antihero. This name is pronounced as (ee-a-go), Iago.

This will be a nice top-notch horse with the much sought after cowhorse/speed combination pedigree. His dam, Docs Dolly Expert, produces athletic babies with speed and style.  She is an appendix mare with Doc Bar on her papers going back to Jet Deck top and bottom through Jet Smooth and Shujet.  Her maternal grandsire was Deckabo (SI 102).  Dolly’s mother is an awesome mare that has been a broodmare, working ranch mare, excellent teacher for our youngest son as a ranch, 4-H and family rodeo horse.  Babe’s been greatly missed here on the ranch since she passed away. Dolly out does herself no matter which stallion she is bred to.  Dolly’s previous foals with us are 2009 Docs Racer Reed JW who is competively running barrels in TN and 2010 Docs Reed Jet JW is in Tennessee with a repeat buyer and in roping training.  2011 Paddys Gin Allana JW has joined a ranch here in ND as a 13 (now older) year old girl’s go to horse. 2012 Paddys Gin Breezy JW is in Minnesota where she is currently a reined cowhorse prospect.  Her 2013 stallion, Docs Hustle Drift JW, has joined a buyer in Oklahoma as a barrel prospect and her 2014 stud colt, Docs Sonic Drift JW, has joined a buyer in SD as a using ranch prospect. Dolly’s 2015 filly, Paddys Gin Cruze JW, is in Minnesota in barrels/arena training. 2009 Racer and 2010 Jet are full siblings to her 2016 bay colt, Barracuda Reed JW. Her 2017 foal, Whiskey Up Vitani JW and 2018 foal Whiskey Up Peru JW are by Whoop Up Whiskey

This is Dolly’s first foal with Jacks Our Bartender a newer stallion for us. Jacks Our Bartender is a son of Bartenders Memory by Two ID Bartender and out of a granddaughter of Two Eyed Jack, Watch Miss Jo Jackie, born in 2003. Unfortunately, due to a stifle injury from being kicked by a mare, Jack was not able to stay sound enough to enter the show ring but was able to prove his athletic ability.  Since then several of his colts have ended up in the roping arena and continue to prove their athleticism and great minds.  By 2015 Hockenson’s realized that he was producing some really great roping horses and decided to see if they could keep his stifle sound enough to show and sure enough in a very short time, he quickly earned 5.5 AQHA Heading Points of his own proving that his offspring accomplishments were not by chance. He is a great horse to be around and out produces himself every time. Jack has 3 AQHA performing offspring. Many of his other foals have gone on to be great rodeo horses or rope horses competing and earning money in different associations.

We are excited about this pairing and can’t wait to see how Iago matures and develops. With both Jack’s and Dolly’s proven offspring, Iago should be able to really shine rather it is in the arena, breeding barn or show pen!
