2012 Black Mare

Thanks Jessica!

Born 5-12-12. Wow—Ebony is a great solid black filly with NO white. Some of her summer pictures will have her looking a bit brown tinged as typical of lots of black foals. She will shed out black again by fall. She will probably size up to be a solid 15-2 hand mare. She will be a rider and will cover ground smoothly. If you like the look of the mare, we think you will really like this filly. Ebony’s two older siblings have both looked a lot like their dam, Mujer Dusty Bar JW aka Dusty who is 83% NFQHA and was purchased from Grantier Quarter Horses because her mare line is very close to several of our VERY PROVEN ranch horses. Mujer Tacky Jay, now deceased, made a name for himself producing using horses for the family, ranch, arena and youth. There are a lot of great horses in Dusty’s pedigree from Jet Deck and Leo Tag just off her papers to other greats Three Bars, Poco Bueno and old time horses like Old Sorrel. Dusty also fantastically goes back to King 9 times! We really believe in these horse families.

Ebony’s sire is JK Jay Reed aka Pine Cone, a 96% foundation bred stallion with Poco Pine, Continental King by King P-234, Joe Reed II and Whiskey Bert all on his papers. Pine Cone has King P-234 fairly close up and goes back to him six times. Pine Cone puts a lot of ‘cow’ into his foals. Ebony is 89.5% foundation eligible with the NFQHA and will be able to go any direction from trail to ranch horse with plenty of ‘cow’ and stoutness for roping as well. Her lines will also give you plenty of speed and she’s going to be big enough to be one of those ranch horses to go all day. We expect a very sweet disposition from both dam and sire. Chewie’s full siblings are 2010 Zanzibar Reed JW and Chewbacca Reed JW. Don’t forget that she goes back to King P-234 a combined 15 times!! Both dam and sire are HERDA N/N so Ebony is also N/N.

UPDATE 10-11-12. Ebony really developed in a nice weanling. She is wide in stance, deep girthed and very balanced. We couldn't be more proud of how she represents our program. She is staying in North Dakota and we wish her new owners ever success with her. Thanks Jessica!
