Born 7-28-11. Flashy granddaughter of Paddys Irish Whiskey. We’ve been having fun with using Star Wars names for some of our foals this year. Mara is not one of the traditional older Star Wars names but it’s in the books and we really like it. The name has class, style and will be memorable just like we see this filly being. ‘Mara’ is the second full sibling in the pairing of TRR Paddys Texas Gin and Fancy Roan Belle. 2010 Paddys Gin Shasta JW is now in Oklahoma. ‘Mara’ is the 10th foal for her dam and surprise, surprise….the only NON-roan to date. That caught us a little off guard, but the filly makes up for it with a tremendous shape and a huge splash of white with a big star, big snip and 2 matching rear half stockings.
Fancy Roan Belle is an awesome 87% NFQHA proven mare with one stallion standing at stud; we are riding her 2004 bay roan daughter, Docs Fancy Roan, have retained her 2008 dark chestnut roan daughter, Peponita Roan Bar JW and 2011 granddaughter, Paddys Gin Fanta JW for our program. Let’s look at the mare’s pedigree deep in Reeves breeding from South Dakota--Fancy Roan Bar, Roan Bar, Bell Boy Bar, Tom Baker, Bar Nothing Springer and Bartender. You cannot ask for a better foundation, ranch, cow or arena bloodline. The mare puts a very nice disposition on her foals. The Paddys Irish Whiskey horses are making a name for themselves in everything from cutting to cowhorse events to roping horses and are very versatile—Tanquery Gin, Doc O’Lena, Docs Starlight, Poco Tivio, Peppy San Badger. HERDA N/HDR (Please review Mara's information).
Update 4-27-13: Wow---Mara is a powerhouse of a filly. There is no way to tell that she's 2 months younger than the rest the 2011 horses. She really thickened up and we expect her to mature around 14-2. She had quite a bit of handling with us. Mara is one of our best and we are very happy that she is now in Texas where she will have the opportunity to become part of a broodmare band and produce some very nice arena and ranch prospects. Thanks Jaime!
