Thanks Travis!

Born 5-4-21 “Chives” is a bay colt with only a small white star. This year our names are flower/tree/rangeland plants themed. It stuck when our first foal was born and we started calling her ‘Posie’ which means a ‘bunch of flowers’. So, we decided to go with it.

This is the 2nd foal from his dam, HQ Jacks Rojavaquera.  We were specifically shopping for young replacement fillies with the Two Eyed Jack/Pitzer bloodlines to pair up with any of our Paddys Irish Whiskey sons as some of our older mares with those lines have already niched very well with our Paddys stallions.  We absolutely love her sire, Jacks Our Bartender, and his pedigree with Two Eyed Jack and Two ID Bartender. We purchased Vaquera first and then went back to Hockenson’s to purchase Jack. We hope to retain additional Jack daughters. The Jackie Bee on Vaquera’s bottomside is a new line to our program and we are excited to see how that plays out along with the Skipper W and Sonny Dee Bar. Her 2019 foal, Whiskey Up Shang JW, stuck around until his coming 2 year old spring, so we were able to watch him mature. He was nice and ended up going to TX. He is a full sibling to Chives.

Chives’s sire is Whoop Up Whiskey. ‘Whoop’ is a 2010 son of Paddys Irish Whiskey and out of a great John Scott mare, My Little Sugar Babe. The Paddys Irish Whiskey horses are making a name for themselves in everything from cutting to cowhorse events to roping horses and are very versatile.  A key difference between Whoop Up Whiskey and our other PIW son, TRR Paddys Texas Gin, is the dam pedigree. While both dams go back to Doc O Lena, Whoop’s goes to Doc O Dynamite who also stood at the John Scott Ranch. Doc O Dynamite was an Equi-State leading cutting sire from 1999-2005 who produced money earners and according to his performance record, his daughters have produced many money earning foals in AQHA, NCHA, NRHA and NRCHA. Doc O Dynamite has a pedigree that traces back to Three Bars giving a bit more stretch and speed to his offspring and shows up on the pedigree of many arena and speed event horses. Whoop Up Whiskey aka Whoop brings that little more height and length and speed to our program as compared to TRR Paddys Texas Gin and Top Gun Whiskey. He has excellent bone, athleticism and conformation. His lineage tells us that his offspring will have cow and will be capable of performing at any level. Whoop’s foals are breaking out really kind and level headed.

Chives should be a nice all around prospect with a lot of style. He will be able to excel in the arena or on the ranch as well. We are seeing a lot of that style and grace in these Whoop babies.  Fun fact is that Vaquera is a Jack daughter who produced a Whoop son.  We have another mare who is a Whoop daughter that produced a Jack son.  It is very rewarding to see our program develop this way.

“Don’t miss a chance to COWBOY UP with a WHISKEY UP foal!”
