 DECEASED

Born 4-30-16. Some years we do a fun theme for names.  This year we decided to go with American Made Muscle Cars from the 50s, 60s and 70s. We have had some fun researching them.  This filly is named after the 1963-1974 Chevy Nova SS.

‘Nova’ is a dark bay or brown filly with a star and white on her right rear pastern. She is the first foal from this pairing and we are really pleased! Her mother is one of our Mujer Tacky Jay daughters and is really impressing us with the quality of foals she’s producing for us. Mujer Lily Dancer JW aka Lily is 84% NFQHA and was purchased from Grantier Quarter Horses as a weanling. Mujer Tacky Jay, now deceased, made a name for himself producing using horses for the family, ranch, arena and youth. There are a lot of great horses in Lily’s pedigree from Jet Deck and Leo Tag just off her papers to other greats Three Bars, Poco Bueno and old time horses like Old Sorrel. Lily also fantastically goes back to King 9 times! We really believe in these well established horse families and in Lily’s mare line as she is so closely bred to many of our great saddle horses. She has produced three previous foals all by our stallion, JK Jay Reed. 2011 Princess Leia Reed JW has joined a breeder in Texas. 2012 beautiful black filly Lily Dancer Reed JW is still here at the ranch and expecting her first foal this year. 2013 gorgeous black filly Jitterbug Reed JW joined a family ranch in MO. Her 2014 foal, Lily King Drift JW, is by our stallion Radar purchased by a previous buyer in TN and now into ranch horse training.  Her 2015 foal, Lily Dancer Drift JW, has been retained for our broodmare program.

Nova is the first foal for TRR Paddys Texas Gin and the dam. This is Tex’s eighth foal crop. He puts very thick and muscular foals on the ground with very nice muscle expression on them as well as a lot of athleticism and as they develop they have a lot of vigor. The oldest ones have been started under saddle by various buyers and we are hearing good things from all of them.  The Paddys Irish Whiskey horses are making a name for themselves in everything from cutting to cowhorse events to roping horses and are very versatile—Tanquery Gin, Doc O’Lena, Docs Starlight, Poco Tivio, Peppy San Badger. We are very excited about what this pairing produced.  Nova has grown into a thick stout mare with more leg than normal "Tex" babies. We exposed Nova to Jacks Our Bartender for a 2020 baby. We loved seeing these Paddys Irish Whiskey granddaughters crossed back on "Jack" last year, so we are very excited about her 2020 baby by him. She had a bay roan stallion, Paducah Bartender JW.
