2011 Bay Mare
Return to Previous Page

Born 2-21-11.  ‘Fanta’ is a 2011 mare we raised. She is a darker bay with a small star, snip and a little white on her right rear pastern. Fanta was started under saddle the spring of 2013 by Schlegel Horse Training and continued training as a reining prospect. She showed her 3 Year Old year in junior reining, ranch horse pleasure and reined cowhorse by Matt Schlegel. At the end of the year she was a money earner and her highlight was to be the Limited Open Reserve Champion, Level 1 Limited Open Champion and the Open Midwest Jackpot Reserve Champion at the North Central Reined Cowhorse Association Last Chance Classic located in Minnesota over Halloween weekend 2014.  We are extremely excited about what this mare is accomplishing! Fanta appears to combine the best of her dam and sire.  She is very athletic and thick with a very powerful rear end. She has a good disposition and excellent handling. She is back in training for her 4 Year Old year.  We can’t wait to see what this mare keeps doing for us!

Fanta is a very exciting filly for us as she is the first foal by TRR Paddys Texas Gin  aka Tex out of one of our Docs Flying Peppy daughters, Docs Fancy Roan aka Soda Pop and we are NOT disappointed.  She is also the first Tex offspring that we’ve managed to keep for ourselves and his foals tend to sell themselves quickly.  Soda’s pedigree includes Docs Flying Peppy x Doc’s Flying Bar x Doc Bar.  Doc’s Flying Bar stood at Texas A&M University.  Soda Pop has risen through the ranks to be one of our main ranch horses and a very solid cowhorse.  Soda is a great combination of old time foundation breeding and solid cutting horse cornerstones with Doc Bar on her papers and Mr San Peppy once off.  Soda has since had one additional foal in 2014, Whiskey Up Crush JW by Whoop Up Whiskey.  You can read more about her and see a lot more pictures of her on her own page.  Fanta’s sire, Tex, puts very thick and muscular foals on the ground with very nice muscle expression on them as well as a lot of athleticism and as they develop they have a lot of vigor. The Paddys Irish Whiskey horses are making a name for themselves in everything from cutting to cowhorse events to roping horses and are very versatile—Tanquery Gin, Doc O’Lena, Docs Starlight, Poco Tivio, Peppy San Badger.

Fanta was shown through 2015 by Matt Schlegel and has her COA and was a small money earner in Reined Cowhorse.  We will update some of her pictures when we can.  Fanta has been home and ranching.  She has sure filled out and came into herself as a mature mare.  Her reining skills are big bonus! We do not have any immediate intentions on breeding her because we are sure busy riding her. Keep checking on this mare to see what all the future has in store for her.
