“Soda Pop” is a beautiful bay roan mare showing a lot of roan. She has Doc Bar on her papers which is awesome for such a young mare. She is one of four Docs Flying Bar granddaughters that we have. He stood at Texas A&M University as part of their equine breeding program. He gives her Jet Smooth and Mr San Peppy just off her papers topside. We also own this mare’s mother, Fancy Roan Belle, who has produced only roan foals and her 2008 maternal sister, Peponita Roan Bar JW. Let’s look at her bottom deep in Reeves breeding out of South Dakota—Roan Bar Dandy, Roan Bar, Fancy Roan Bar, Bell Boy Bar. Weavers Quarter Horses in Montana have had several of these Cake And Cream mares that have done well for their program.
Soda is bred deep in ranch, arena and cutting bloodlines and she is a cowhorse. She was started at three, had another 14 days with a trainer in February 2008 and has been used on the ranch since. She has a smooth, fast, running walk keeping up with the other horses trotting. She can go all day, covering large areas and just doesn’t get wore out. She’s not super fast on the straightaway, but makes up for it with her cutting ability, agility, can-do attitude, endurance and that running walk. She knows how to watch cattle and does it well. We have no doubt that she will enter the broodmare bunch at some point in the future but for now she’s earning a living as one of the ranch saddle horses. She is not bred for 2010 or 2011.
